Library Weighs in on Proposed Archives Relocation

March 30, 2010

KALAMAZOO
--The community is invited to an upcoming talk that will answer commonly asked questions about a proposal to move Western Michigan University's Archives and Regional History Collections.

Dr. Sharon Carlson, director of Archives and Regional History Collections, will speak on "Services and Collections of the WMU Archives and Regional History Collections" immediately following the Friends of the University Libraries' annual meeting Tuesday, April 13.

The brief meeting, which is open to the public, will start at 4 p.m. in Room 111 of East Hall. Refreshments will be served.

The archives and collections unit is located in the aging East Hall and is part of the University Libraries system. It contains more than 17,000 linear feet of historical University, regional and local governmental records, making the unit the largest facility of its type in southwestern Michigan and one of the largest in the state.
