A Preserve the Pensions Project
Thanks for Your Contributions to the Veteran Bounty Land Records Fund!
KVGS had a $1,000 match for member contributions – and members contributed $1,002! Our $2,002 will be sent to the Michigan Genealogical Council (MGC) which will match our funds. With the doubling from MGC, KVGS will have given a total of $4,004 to support the digitization of the remaining bounty land records from the Revolutionary War through the Mexican-American War.
In past fundraisers like this, the genealogical community – including KVGS – has donated millions of dollars to have pension files and other records at the National Archives (NARA) in Washington, DC, digitized and made available for researchers. Federal funds do not support digitizing records at NARA.
Perhaps a bounty land record of one of YOUR ancestors will be digitized through this project.
If you haven’t contributed and wish to, you can still contribute. All donations are welcome! Just fill out the form below and submit your payment authorization.
