Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society -- Kalamazoo, MI

Welcome to the KVGS website!

We serve historians and genealogists who are interested in the Kalamazoo River Valley region - and around the world, too.  Join us!

Welcome All!

Please join us for our next general meeting on May 20 at 7:00 pm. Immediately following the business meeting, Jim Jackson and a distinguished panel will be presenting on "Planning a Research Vacation & Washington, D.C. Trip," a topic that is sure to enhance your genealogical journey.

Cover-image-single-frontJim Jackson, our Vice President and Program Chair, and a panel of seasoned research travelers will share their wealth of knowledge and experience in planning productive research trips. Whether you are on a dedicated research expedition or a genealogy-focused side trip during your family vacation, their insights will prove invaluable. They will also discuss the upcoming September 8-14, 2024, trip to Washington, D.C., and recommend useful sites for genealogical travel, such as Genealogical Cruises and Road Scholar Trips.

This is a hybrid event. You can attend in person at the Portage District Library located at 300 Library Lane, Portage, MI, or virtually through Zoom. Socializing and refreshments will start at 6:30 pm at the library. KVGS members will receive a meeting reminder with a Zoom registration link a few days before the meeting. You can also register on Zoom through the EVENTS page on our website.

Before then, we invite you to visit our website's RESEARCH TRIPS pages to learn more about plans for a trip to Washington, D.C. We would be thrilled if you could join us.

If you missed an earlier program, such as Michael Delaware's engaging April program, "The Art of the Story," or perhaps one of our Skills Sessions, you will find program recordings and handouts from many programs under our website's MEMBERS section and then in the RECORDINGS/HANDOUTS section. Please remember to sign in as a member first.

We look forward to seeing you on May 20!
